Lawtey Busted Mugshots and Arrests
Lawtey runs its own police force. The Lawtey Police Department is not on that domain; the city lists the department at cityoflawtey.org, where the LPD page covers patrol and enforcement inside city limits. Other agencies can arrest there too. When a suspect is booked, processing happens at Bradford County Jail in Starke, and the sheriff's office takes over the record from that point. So a municipal stop can end up as a county booking sheet and mugshot, and the arrest record names the agency that started the case.
The April 1, 2020 Census counted 636 residents. That small footprint does not mean a separate booking database. City arrests and sheriff arrests land in one shared county system, which actually helps anyone hunting a Lawtey booking photo. One caution: an address listed at intake is simply the address the person supplied, not proof of where the bust occurred or who made it. Always confirm the incident location and arresting agency before labeling a record a Lawtey arrest.
Where Lawtey Busted Mugshots Appear
The LPD website does not post a daily bulletin or blotter. There is no recent-bookings list or mugshot feed of its own. Instead, the department's FAQ points inmate searches toward Bradford County. So the county jail portal is the logical first stop. It holds the booking record and any photo tied to it. News stories and commercial archive sites can help pin down a date or spelling. They are secondary tools, though. Custody status and case results must come from official sources, not those sites.
| Channel | Photo? | Status | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| BCSO SmartWEB Jail View | When available | Official | Search current or released booking records by name and date. |
| Lawtey Police Department | No public feed found | Official | Confirm LPD contacts and request the municipal incident record. |
| Bradford County Clerk | Not a mugshot source | Official | Follow the court case and final disposition. |
| Bradford County Telegraph Crime | Sometimes | Unofficial reporting | Read periodic Lawtey and county arrest summaries, then verify them. |
| Busted Newspaper and Recently Booked | Often | Unofficial archives | Use only as countywide leads that may be stale, incomplete, or wrong. |
SmartWEB goes well past a current-inmate list. Its search form lets you set booking and release date ranges and choose between current and released people, so someone who bonded out can still turn up with a booking card. One limitation stands out, though. BCSO makes no promise about how often data refreshes or how far back the online history goes. When a card or photo is missing, the cause could be processing lag, an exemption, a technical glitch, or a record you simply have to request directly from the sheriff.
Note: No countywide publisher’s Lawtey label proves the incident location or arresting agency without a matching official record.
Find Who Was Busted in Lawtey
Work from the custody event backward to the city. This sequence matters. A missing LPD blotter never proves an arrest did not happen, and a fast release should not hide a valid booking from view. The Bradford County booking and roster hub lays out the full county search method, while the Lawtey-specific path boils down to a handful of checks.
- Open BCSO SmartWEB and search the person’s first, middle, or last name. Use booking dates when the name is common.
- Select current, released, or both as needed. A current-only search can omit someone who has already left the jail.
- Compare date of birth, booking number, booking time, and arresting agency. Do not rely on name or address alone.
- Read each alleged charge, court case number, and bond field with care. Blank or changing bond data may reflect first-appearance timing.
- Ask LPD for its incident report when LPD handled the event, and ask BCSO for the booking sheet or intake image.
- Use the Bradford County Clerk’s docket to learn what prosecutors filed and how the court resolved the case.
SmartWEB has a "Booked Last 24 Hours" option. That is the only official same-day view with a clear name. No dedicated Lawtey feed exists. There is no 48-hour page, no weekly report, and no city booking archive anywhere official. To cover a longer stretch, enter your own start and end booking dates. The results span whatever window you picked. That is not the same thing as a weekly LPD arrest roundup.
Lawtey Police Arrest Records
An LPD incident report and a BCSO jail record answer different questions. City police handled the event? Ask Lawtey for the incident or arrest report. Include the date, location, name, officer, and case number if you have them. The booking sheet and intake photo are a separate matter. Those belong to BCSO. The sheriff runs Bradford County Jail and its SmartWEB data. Lawtey posts no set municipal copy fee or fixed turnaround time on its cited pages. Confirm cost and timing with the City Clerk first.

The police department keeps weekday hours only, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It closes from noon to 1:00 p.m. and on major holidays. The official City Clerk page gives the city records route plus an email contact. For the jail side, ask the BCSO Records Unit. They can also tell you whether an older booking photo is still on hand.
Note: Confirm Lawtey’s cost and timing directly; the sheriff’s published fee schedule does not govern a City Clerk request.
Lawtey Arrest and Booking Custodians
Lawtey's officers wear two hats. They serve as municipal police, yet each one is also a sworn Bradford County deputy sheriff through a mutual aid arrangement. That setup lets agencies help each other across normal lines, but the paperwork does not fold into one file. One office may write the incident report while another books the person, snaps the photo, and keeps the booking card.
So the arresting-agency field matters more than any city name. A single record might show an LPD arrest, sheriff involvement, or charges from some other agency, with BCSO as booking custodian every time. Request the city police report from Lawtey and the jail item from BCSO. Confused by the label? Hand both offices the booking number, court case number, and incident date so each can locate its portion.
LPD's term reports from 2014 through 2018 cover its website and community outreach posts. Useful as those may be, they fall short of an arrest log. The old 'speed trap' shorthand works even worse as a records tool. Plenty of traffic stops end without an arrest, and plenty of arrests never reach Bradford County Jail intake.
When Lawtey Booking Bond Appears
A fresh Lawtey booking often appears before bond details are settled. Daily first appearance runs around 10:00 a.m., per the BCSO Jail Division. The bond field may sit blank or shift until a judge signs an order and jail staff process it. That lag is procedural, nothing more.
SmartWEB can list total bond along with amounts tied to each charge. A zero and a 'no bond' entry are different statuses. Treat them that way. Confirm current figures with the jail or court. Court-date questions go to the clerk or your counsel, since the booking screen is not the docket. This first-appearance gap explains why a same-day snapshot can look unlike a later Lawtey booking record.
Note: A blank bond field soon after intake may reflect court timing, so verify the signed order before drawing a conclusion.
Lawtey Arrest News and Mugshots
Local news is the easiest way to follow Lawtey arrests. The Bradford County Telegraph runs "Recent arrests in Bradford, Union and Clay" roundups in its crime section. It pulls names and charges from law-enforcement agencies, court filings, and public records. Expect text summaries, not a full photo archive. WCJB and Action News Jax also chip in on notable Bradford County stories now and then. A headline can add useful background. It may land before the case paperwork is filed, though.
Commercial sites like Busted Newspaper and Recently Booked carry countywide listings that sometimes include Lawtey bookings. Treat them as unofficial aggregators, not an LPD feed. Their photos, charge labels, and counts can lag behind what the Bradford County Sheriff's Office shows. A listing in their county category does not mean the arrest happened inside Lawtey city limits. Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone have Bradford County pages too, with the same limits. For anything that matters, the jail roster, the police report, and the clerk's docket control.
For the municipal agency itself, the official Lawtey Police site is the right place to look:
That page tells you who to call at LPD. The booking photo itself stays in BCSO systems and isn't rehosted here.
To go deeper on newspaper coverage and countywide sources, see Bradford County Crime News & Mugshots. The habit worth keeping: start at the headline, confirm against the booking card, then check the clerk's case record.
Verify Lawtey Busted Mugshots in Court
A booking record is a snapshot from the start of a case. Expect the arrestee's name, a photo when one was taken, booking and MNI numbers, the booking time, custody status, total bond, the arresting agency, the charges filed, statutes, and any linked Bradford court case numbers. What happens next belongs to other hands. Prosecutors pick the charges, judges rule, and the clerk's docket carries the case's final disposition.
When SmartWEB lists a court case number, put it to work. Go to the clerk's official site through its court-record search page, confirm the name and filing match, then read forward past the arrest date. A released status only means the person is out of county custody. It does not mean the case closed. A name missing from the current roster can also mean release rather than dismissal. Confusing docket? Call the clerk and cite the case number.
Check the final record. A Lawtey booking photo captures one moment at intake. Charges can be reduced, amended, or dropped entirely, so the clerk's disposition is where the story truly ends.
